Prince George’s County State’s Attorney to Address Bowie State University Convocation (2421 hits)


Aisha Braveboy to Focus on Black History Month Theme of African-Americans and the Vote

WHO: Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy will be the keynote speaker at Bowie State University Spring Convocation, addressing the national Black History Month theme of “African Americans and the Vote” at Maryland’s oldest historically black university.

Braveboy is the top law enforcement officer in the county, responsible for the safety and security of over 900,000 citizens. Prior to being elected state’s attorney, she served as manager of government affairs for Children’s National Health System, Of Counsel with Gabriel J. Christian and Associates, and General Counsel for the Community Public Awareness Council, a juvenile diversionary program. She was elected to represent the 25th Legislative District in the Maryland General Assembly in 2006 and was appointed as chair of the Consumer Protection Subcommittee. Her peers elected Braveboy to serve as chair of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland, where she guided the organization on a wide range of policy issues, including parity for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

WHAT: The Bowie State University Spring Convocation marks the official start of the semester and the university’s Black History Month celebration.
