This role partners closely with Human Resources and business leaders to provide practical, timely, and business-oriented legal advice on employment-related issues, and supports broader corporate legal initiatives including contract review, risk management, and compliance programs.</span></p><p></p><p></p><p><u><b> Key Responsibilities</b></u></p><p></p><p><b>Employment Law & Compliance</b></p><ul><li>Advise on all aspects of employment law, including hiring, termination, wage and hour compliance, workplace investigations, discrimination claims, and employee relations.</li><li> Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.</li><li> Support HR in managing employee disputes, performance issues, and disciplinary actions.</li><li> Oversee employment-related litigation and administrative proceedings, including managing outside counsel.<br /> </li></ul><p><b>Commercial & General Corporate Support</b></p><ul><li>Serve as a generalist in-house attorney, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements (e. g., vendor contracts, consulting agreements, NDAs, confidentiality agreements).</li><li> Provide legal support for strategic business initiatives and operational matters.</li><li> Respond promptly to legal requests from business units, including HR, marketing, merchandising, operations, and IT.</li></ul><ul><li> Support enterprise-wide legal compliance programs, including risk assessments and policy development.</li><li> Train and mentor junior attorneys and paralegals on all aspects of in-house practice.</li></ul><p></p><p><u><b> Qualifications</b></u></p><ul><li>Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admission to the Massachusetts bar required.</li><li> At least five years of legal experience, including significant employment law and broad commercial contract experience; prior in-house experience preferred.</li><li> Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and litigation management.</li><li> Proven ability to navigate complex organizations and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.</li><li> Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.</li></ul><p></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><span> This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.</span></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p> In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJs Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $166,875.00 - $209,625.00
