The Division of Institutional Effectiveness (IE) provides support and leadership through planning, assessment, data analysis & reporting, performance monitoring & improvement, and project management. The practical and collaborative services drive overall organizational improvements in quality, responsiveness, and efficiency for internal and external stakeholders.
Job Summary
The Data Governance Coordinator manages the oversight of the institutional data governance program. The scope of institutional data governance covers the Augusta University (AU) data domains, including Academic Affairs and Colleges, Enrollment and Student Affairs, External Relations, Finance and Administration, Philanthropy and Alumni, Research, and Strategic Partnerships. This position has institution-wide reach and impact, offering the opportunity to build relationships across a broad range of units. The Data Governance Coordinator collaborates with data stewards, data managers, data analysts, and other stakeholders to establish data standards, set data quality rules, and promote responsible data use across the institution. This role has knowledge of data regulatory requirements at both the state and federal levels, and promotes data literacy, ensuring AU stakeholders know what data means, know where to find data, and how data should and should not be used.
Responsibilities
DATA GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK COORDINATION: Oversees and maintains the university data governance framework to coincide with that outlined in the University System of Georgia's Business Procedures Manual 12.0. The data governance framework clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of key data stakeholders, ensuring consistent definition, documentation, and appropriate use of institutional data assets. Acts as the subject matter expert for the university regarding the interpretation, implementation, and compliance with data governance policies and regulations. Draft and propose policies, processes, and procedures surrounding data governance to the appropriate data governance council and bodies. Produces documentation, instructions, usage agreements, and other guidance documents. Leads working groups to ensure data integrity, standards, and issues are resolved through collaboration with various roles on campus.
DATA GOVERNANCE SYSTEMS AND TOOLS MANAGEMENT: Coordinates the university's data governance function through the administration of data governance tools and systems. Manages tools and systems that support the data governance function, to include mission critical systems list, systems documentation, data element dictionary, reports inventory, and other documentation for compliance with the University System of Georgia Business Procedures Manual 12.0 Data Governance and Management. Facilitates the development of definitions and report specifications in an effort to document consistently and interpret data accurately. Manages ever-changing access to data based on roles and responsibilities.
DATA GOVERNANCE AND DATA LITERACY TRAINING: Creates and manages an outreach strategy that includes relationship development, communication, and compliance based on the goals set forth in the Institutional Data Strategy. Creates and provides training and support relevant to all institutional data roles and relevant data governance concepts.
DATA GOVERNANCE PROFESSION: Represents AU in consortia with peer universities and through data governance professional organizations and recommends strategic directions and priorities to AU leadership.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate should have a background in data, reporting and/or systems management. Experience and knowledge in higher education institutions. Knowledge and experience of data architecture, business intelligence, and analytics. Experience in or knowledge of business process improvement methodology. Strong project planning and management skills.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Demonstrate knowledge of data governance concepts, techniques, processes and applications. Knowledge and experience of data architecture, business intelligence, and analytics. Knowledge of higher education institutions and experience with enterprise data in a university context. Experience in or knowledge of business process improvement methodology.
SKILLS

Pay Band: B13
Salary: $68,500/annually-$73,320/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
