The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in designing, deploying and optimizing solutions on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, including experience with AWS native AI/ML services, serverless architectures, and cloud-first migration and modernization patterns. Experience across multiple cloud providers is a plus. This individual will play a critical role in architecting secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments tailored to our customers requirements.HOW A CLOUD ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:Architects, designs, and implements cloudnative solutions leveraging AWS services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Step Functions, and AI/ML offerings (Bedrock, SageMaker, Amazon Q)Defines cloud architectures for new and existing systems, emphasizing automation, cost efficiency, and mission resilienceProvides strategic guidance to shape cloud adoption, modernization roadmaps, and marketaligned solution offeringsBuilds secure, scalable multiaccount environments following AWS WellArchitected, Zero Trust, and industry security frameworksLeads the design and automation of DevSecOps pipelines, integrating CI/CD, policy-as-code, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation), and automated testingCollaborates with crossfunctional teams to assess requirements, translate mission needs into robust technical solutions, and integrate cloud security at every layerWorks with cloud governance to ensure NIST 800-53, and NIST 800-171 controls are implemented and documented, such as IAM best practices, data protection, encryption, and compliance controls (FedRAMP, DoW, NIST)Mentors engineering teams on cloud-native design patterns, AI/ML solution integration, and secure automation practicesParticipates in proposal development, ensuring technical solutions are innovative, compliant, and aligned with emerging government requirementsContinuously evaluates emerging technologies, such as generative AI, container security, edge computing, and automated governance, to enhance cloud strategy and accelerate deliveryWHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED:Education: BA/BS in Computer Science or similar fieldRequired Experience: 15+ years total experience, with 8+ years of experience architecting cloud solutionsRequired Certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - ProfessionalExtensive experience designing and deploying AWS-based solutions through infrastructure as code and a CI/CD pipelineExperience creating and contributing technical material to federal, state and local proposals and creating cloud architecturesAbility to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervisionDemonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges Security Clearance: Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance Location: Remote, but must be able to travel up to 25% for customer and proposal support US Citizenship Required GDIT IS YOUR PLACEAt GDIT, the mission is our purpose, and our people are at the center of everything we do.Growth: AI-powered career tool that identifies career steps and learning opportunitiesSupport: An internal mobility team focused on helping you achieve your career goalsRewards: Comprehensive benefits and wellness packages, 401K with company match, and competitive pay and paid time offCommunity: Award-winning culture of innovation and a military-friendly workplaceOWN YOUR OPPORTUNITYExplore a career at GDIT and youll find endless opportunities to grow alongside colleagues who share your sense of ownership and pride in the meaningful work we do.
